Back to School Home Organization Tips
It’s that time of year again, and it came too quickly for most of us. Time for the kids to get ready to get back to school. That means shopping for school supplies, new clothes and everything else that the little ones need to make sure they are prepared the new school year. Now that we are thinking of all of the stuff that is needed for them, especially with multiple children, it is a good time to think about how all of those items are going to be stored and organized.
Let’s take a look at some ideas that can help ease the stress of getting back into the school routine. A great way to keep the whole family on the same page is to create a family bulletin board. The bulletin board is a visual organization board that can keep everyone updated on the important tasks at a quick glance. Another idea for school organization is to have a designated area for the kids to do their homework. This should be a spot that is distraction free so that they can sit down and focus. This way the kids get done faster, which for them is important because it means more play time and for you it means they are completing what is required of them and learning.
A couple of ideas that can help reduce the stress of a typical school day morning:
- Morning are filled with “to-dos” and not a lot of time to do them in. One major time drain is searching for backpacks, jackets, shoes and completed projects. Having a bench with internal storage or storage underneath with baskets, coat hooks and a shelf near the door can help keep everything organized and in one spot. This type of organization system helps corral many different types of items into one area that cannot be missed by you or your children. Something to consider is a built in system for your next remodeling project.
- Another morning issue is getting dressed/picking out clothes. A simple solution for this is to print out some tags and pick out clothes for the week on the weekend and setting them up to be worn on that day. If you have younger children who are learning about colors, using different colored tags for each day can be a fun way to also help them learn.
These are just a few examples that can help lessen the stress of getting back to school and also during the school year. Moms and Dads all across the nation are coming up with new and clever ideas to make their lives less stressful. The most important thing is, if you want to have a less stressful back to school period and school year, implement an idea that you believe will work for you and make it your own.
